10+ SIMPLE TIPS FOR YOUR MOUTH
Help Open the Way to Well-Being
# 1 - DON'T share your brush . . .
". . . well I have some ideas of my own but
I can't find my homework!"
#2 - Replace your toothbrush after a cold or flu; and replace your toothbrush every three to four months, or sooner if it becomes frayed.
#3 - It’s important to floss and brush every morning; however it’s vital to brush and floss every evening.
#4 - Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and avoid vigorous or harsh scrubbing, which can irritate your gums.
#5 - Try and brush your teeth for at least two minutes each time you brush.
#6 - Hard candies, taffy, and cough drops are worse for your teeth than sweets that you chew and swallow quickly- like dark chocolate. The reason is because sugar temporarily turns your saliva more acidic. The longer it remains that way (20 to 30 minutes with each hard candy), the longer the bacteria grow and thrive, and the more opportunity to cause damage to your teeth and gums.
#7 - Calcium channel blockers such as Procardia (nifedipine) and Cardizem (diltzem) often used to treat blood pressure can cause gums to enlarge, making them more difficult to practice dental hygiene. See you Dentist more often for regular cleanings.
#8 - For children make brushing time a family time, and start early. Take an active role in your child’s oral health .
#9 - Floss!!!! Floss!!!! FLOSS!!!!!!
#10 - Eat healthy and choose snacks that are better for your teeth such as fruits, vegetables, yogurt and cheese, preferably organic or not processed foods. A good balanced diet is not only good for your body and mind, but also your teeth.
